So I would like to know a few things about these products. Which one is better for the price? Which one is a better for tuning that gives the best hp or tuned the best? Im asking for the spec looking in to finally getting my spec tuned. I don't know much how the safc's. Just that it control the air/fuel. Or if any other tuning control works better. Thanks

VAFC is generally for Hondas. It has an option to control when VTEC kicks in, yo.
SAFC is the older model. SAFCII is newer and the SAFC NEO is the newest one. The major difference would be the tuning points. The higher the tuning points, the more accurate your tune will be. SAFCII has I think 16 points, the NEO has double that.

there was talk of using the VAFC to control the secondaries on the qr. not sure if that is true or not. this was a while back.
the neo also has a better screen/display than the SAFC/II

actually the NEO does have 32 points but it's 16 high throttle (where you tune for power) and 16 low throttle. safc2 has 24 tuning points (12 low, 12 high)
the display is bigger, brighter and more colorful on the neo, but some ppl don't like that. the safc2 is a simple one color LCD display.
i don't think you can even find a safc1  go with the safc2 or neo depending on how you feel about the displays. the 4 extra tuning points are nice, but with the Spec's relatively low redline, it won't hurt you much.

+1
Either will work...I got the NEO, because it was new and cool, and shiny ;)
The 32 tuning points was really nice...my A/F ratio was pretty fucking even on the display and when we tuned with the ZT2

I heard that the neo sucks flatout. That it works when it wants too. There is a vafc for sale on cl for like 60 bucks.

vafc is more aimed for honda tuning. it doesn't have the same tuning points. and there's nothing wrong with the neo.

That is absolute garbage. I had mine over almost a year and had ZERO issues. The first units that were released had a bug, and it was fixed, those who are pissed off, sent theirs back and got a new one for free...
If you bought one now, as long as you install it properly (using Apexi's instructions), you should have no issues. Those who used the SAFCII's instructions ended up wiring them up wrong and caused the unit to malfunction...also the VAFC function can help those who are turboed and want to keep their secondaries, because using the VAFC, it allows you adjust when they open...
trust me, get ti and you will love it

that's why i got it...
The only drawback is that there is no mount made for it, but i have seen some cool setups, like using your radio DIN, or even the little cubby that is to the left and below your steering wheel

I know im not going to get gangster numbers form it but is it worth the money to do it whe I only have cai exhuast header. No cams. Should I get a fuel to air ratio gauge too.

and yes it's worth it. because you get better tuning. tuning your engine better is just a safer and smarter thing to do. and no you don't need the gauge

You can always benefit from an A/F adjustment...I set my lows for mpg, and got an extra couple after it was all said and done. As long as I kept the throttle under 50%, it leaned out like crazy....
the NEO has a gauge built in, so no need for a separate one

there is no afr gauge on the neo. it has no way to read it. hence the need for the zt2.

You could get one and get it tuned. With those mods, you can probably get at most 10 extra ponies. It's good maximize your power with what you have.
Don't bother with an AF gauge, most are narrowband and completely worthless. Unless of course you plan on getting a wideband with datalogging capabilities then you can tune yourself as you add more mods.

Get and SAFC II and holler at Clayton to have him find the ZT2 stuff. He or someone else will hook you up with street tune for cheap. ;)

werd. if you're gonna get a afr gauge, get a zt2 or something similar and datalog to do your own street tunes. myself and several others have tuned with safc2 and the neo so we can help you git-r-done.

I bet if you type in ZT2 in the google search bar, it will tell you...
We are more of a search now, ask later kind of group, so search, then come back if you can't find it...we can't hold your hand all the time ;)

it took you guys way to long to type all that shit up. when a simple "zeitronix" would have sufficed. www.zeitronix.com

The NEO is a VAFC and an SAFC in one essentially...all the best of both rolled into one unit

I thought a vafc was a safc with vtec control? Are you telling me it was a box to control vtec switchover ONLY? Thats pretty lame haha.

afc = air/fuel controller. so i'm pretty sure it does control it.

KJ - There has got to be better options for the S2K. An Apex'i AFC is like bottom of the barrel EM software.
James
11-23-2009, 06:30 AM
hondata would probably be one of the most used options for EM
KAbezon
11-23-2009, 06:35 AM
Hondata is the best for any Honda bar none.
K-Pro is the best option for the S2K, but it is more than 5 times the cost of the NEO...

As in the NEO combines the best features of the VAFC and SAFC into one unit...

the V is because it was specifically engineered to be used on Spec V's.

best features of the vafc... "it controls vtec". it doesn't do anything different or fancy besides that.
honestly, the neo is basically a newer version of the vafc...
KAbezon

That is what I am trying to say...it combines the VAFC controls for VTEC with an SAFC II...with a few more display modes, and way more tuning points than the VAFC...
