so i finally got my zx put back together, i turn it over ( it doesn't start) and i bumbed the high beams... everything goes dead!!! i can't find fuses to save my life!!! anyone know where they are at, or if it even has fuses? (1985 300zx non-turbo.)

weak battery could also cause this, you'll get enough juice to turn it over then pop the lights on and thats it.

try jumping it then start pulling fuses

the batterry is brand new, all fuses are good, engine cranks over but will not ignite. i can't smell gas from the tail pipe either, so it ain't flooded.

i thought you couldn't find the fuses? The car definitely has fuses.

there may be a short in the lights? not starting could be a number of things...

check spark, fuel, and timing...

well, i found the fuses shortly after writing that post. I don't have spark, not sure why not, everything is connected. where do i start?

distributor right? check the plug wires, if those are good inspect the cap and rotor, make sure there's no gunk on the contact points, or worn contact points. I don't know how you can test it, but test the main coil.

you could just replace them. cap and rotor isn't expensive at all

okay, bought and installed; rotor, cap, wires and new plugs. all conected... and still no ignition!!!!! i swear this car hates me!!
i'm pulling out the multi-meter right now, we'll see if shes got power to the coil. then one by one i'll check the next connections in the chain.... i HATE electrical!!

You mess with the ECU at all? Disconnect it by any chance while doing other things?

no, i just took a reading on the coil, distributer, and spark plug wires. all have power, they just aren't getting it at the right moment. it's just timing...
