Well like the title says, between 2000- 2250 rpm my car will make a joyful noise if i go 1/4 throttle. I really think its the header and exhaust because there isnt enough flexing in the pipes.
Clayton did your car make a noise like that.

Mine did that too. I'm pretty sure it's just because of the donut gasket.

not because of the flexing? i know the flex section on the dc header doesnt really move that much, ive kinda gotten used to it, and try not to accelerate in 6th at 55mph, lol.
its annoying as hell on the freeway tho, because the cars slow down and im usually never outta 6th.

Yeah, I hated that sound. Drove me absolutely nuts.

mine does it too, I assumed it was the shitty downpipe or a hangar on the exhaust rubbing. It only does it really when I let off the gas, only between 2k-3k.

Yep, that's where it was worst on mine too. Almost everyone seems to have the problem. It just seems like something that the Specs are stuck with when it comes to headers. The donut works just fine with the pre-cat to slow the flow, but the added flow seems to force it's way out.

today it did it at 2700 roughly, i was pretty surprised, normally it will never make that noise there.
oh and did you notice that if you drive hard, it makes the noise a lot more?

I wish I had a dollar for every weird noise my car has made. Putting new motor mounts in helped a ton though.

lol, i guess thats wonderful thing about the spec v, everytime you hear a new noise, you dont even worry about it...
I just turn the cd player up and try to listen, lol.

I could see MMIs make a difference since there would be a lot less movement. That's what most people were recommending to me.

you mean mmis help make the sound? or stop it?

I should help reduce it since the motor would be doing less moving, it wouldn't make your donut gasket/flexpipe move as much.

what donut gasket are you talking about? he has a DC race header. it doesn't use the factory gaskets at all...

Ok, I always thought that, but then I asked someone who had one and they must have been confused by what I said because they said it did.

its probably the flex pipe, the header vibrates and all that energy has to go somewhere. I hear about that flex crap breaking all the time on all sorts of cars.

ya i figured it was the flexpipe, eventually ill have a new one put in, or maybe i can get lucky and get a spring clamp type thing that rsr use on their exhausts.
