An was wondering is it worth it or even safe?

never even heard of them. no offense, but i don't think it's worth it for just intake. i could see where that would be effective on turbo'd or supercharged car. but not so much running n/a. *shrugs*
it's like getting a cowl hood, but not. and it's cheaper

if you want, give me $20, ill go to Ace Hardware, get $3 worth of spacers and bolts, and ill put it on for you too :)

in all honesty though, if you REALLY wanted to do that, you could sell your own kits for $15 (materials HAVE to be under $5), each of those items can be had at ace hardware.

That looks bad ass. I think I'll raise the back of my hood 6 inches. Would that benefit my car in any way? While I'm at it I'll install some neons on the hood so that when I'm driving at night people can see me.

I like this part:
This modification is very popular in Korea...especially for highly modified cars.
Other than the Tiburon, what Korean cars are modified at all? I mean there's the obvious imports (honda/acura, Mitsubishi, Toyota/Lexus etc) but are there any other DOMESTIC Korean tuners? And I wonder whi this isn't popular with Euro tuners rollin VWs, Audis, BMWs etc.? I also wonder why Mitsubishi is the only car manufacturer with no luxury brand. I also wonder why asparagus makes your pee smell funny.
Oh and I 2nd what Clayton said. I'll co-sign that shit. I can't see you putting out enough heat to have to vent. If you mod, why not just go vented CF hood? You'll get the weight savings too, and that's really important for us V6 owners. Don't forget every 32lbs = 1hp!

Uh oh, I was looking at some cf hood to. Just scared to get something that does not fit is all
SirZyrion

Go with VIS then. My CF hood actually fit BETTER than my stock hood. Stock hood had wider gaps between the hood and fender. Bryan and Clayton can get you pretty good prices. That's probably the best way to go.

Find what you want, and get the part number to these SCO dudes. I think they have them on the SCO site too. Click on the SCO add in the upper right hand corner of the Team V site.

Why at VIS does it say intended for OFF ROAD use only??????
Just to not promote racing?
lost need help
melly mel
08-25-2006, 10:57 PM
Most aftermarket part companies state that. It's to cover their asses for promoting street racing.
rickjamesd
08-25-2006, 10:59 PM
That is their way of covering their ass when some punk kid comes in and buys something and then installs it on his car and goes out and hurts or kills someone on the city streets. They will have that leg to fall back on and say well we have a disclaimer that states this is for off road use only.

Perfect, I figured wanted to know for sure.
Hate the world for being so technical cuz some idiot sues for everything.
az03g
08-25-2006, 11:52 PM
not true. it's because a lot of aftermarket parts make the car not street/emissions legal. (exhaust, internals, some body kits, etc). so by stating that it's for Off-road use only, a customer can't come back and say "you didn't say i would get ticketed for it!"

Oh and that too

or that when they bump into someone and their body kit is in shambles, they can't complain because you were on the road....
Now what if you are off road and suck up some water through your CAI... hmm....

well as HJ found out last week... some body kits require the bumper support (actual bumper, not the cover your see) to be removed. that is definitely not legal...

Meh, who needs safety

Some body kits are not street legal????????
Examples........ (to wide or something)
zander
08-26-2006, 03:26 AM
Well like HJ http://www.teamv-locity.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1861 you have to remove supports to install the kit. And I'm not sure, but I think there is a mandatory speed rating of bumpers.... but I don't know
WhiskiTangoFxtrt
08-26-2006, 03:49 AM
That has nothing to do with it being legal.
Taking away the safety bar??????
Okay so maybe that but otherwise what body kits are not legal?
Wide ones or ones with spikes give me a real example.
az03g

Taking away the safety bar??????
yes it does. if you have to modify your car outside the legal requirements, it's not street legal. i don't know of any other reasons for them to not be legal, tho honestly.
the law is you must have a 5mph bumper. without that bar, even a slow rolling accident can cause damage to the radiator and such.

^^Truff! On my 2G, the shop that installed the body kit took that beam off my car when they put my front end on. I didn't notice it, and didn't know until a year later when I totaled it out. Everything from teh center of the bumper around to the driver's door was CRUSHED. Because it was a year later, I couldn't do anything. Bad thing is the shop didn't even tell me. THey just took the shit off!
WhiskiTangoFxtrt
08-26-2006, 10:07 PM
Ill look up the law that says this beam is required for safety.

I am curious is all.

clayton is right on both counts
offroad use only is to prevent the merchant for being sued because a custoemr gets ticketed/pulled over/etc...
removing the bumper to put on a body kit is illegal but who cares about legalities if you look good doin it?
DEFYF8
08-28-2006, 02:55 PM
oh, also, if you REALLY want a VIS hood, let me or clayton know, we CAN get it for you, we don't deal with VIS but still have the hookup.
SirZyrion
08-28-2006, 03:49 PM
WHAT HAPPENED WITH VIS? THis sucks cause I wanted a Seibon hood, and they take forever to ship shit! Now I'm thinking about a second hood for some custom crazy show shit and I don't know who to go through.
DEFYF8
08-28-2006, 03:51 PM
what styles do you like?
we can get any vis or seibon hood, vis takes FOREVER to ship, seibon is the same but its because they legitimately don't have the part there, vis just never took the time to box their shit and ship it
